Bands Against Breast Cancer's “Boobsapalooza” Brings Bands Together in Fight Against Breast Cancer
Jacksonville Beach, Fla. (September 17, 2010) – kLoB, Blistur and Ron Rodriguez are among 10 bands scheduled to perform during the Bands Against Breast Cancer's Third-Annual “Boobsapalooza” event beginning at noon Saturday, Oct. 2 at Lynch's Irish Pub, 514 N. First St.
For a $10 donation in advance ($15 at the door), people can enjoy performances from a variety of artists throughout the day. Proceeds from the event will go to fund innovative breast cancer research and Bands Against Breast Cancer's community education and outreach programs.
“It's a great day of the community coming together for a great cause, with musicians donating their time in the fight against breast cancer,” said Henrietta (Hank) Watson, founder and event coordinator for Bands Against Breast Cancer. “With this being our third year, we've gained wonderful momentum and support in the community, with attendees and musicians eagerly looking forward to the event. We welcome people of all ages; everyone is touched by breast cancer.”
Tickets can be purchased in advance at Lynch's Irish Pub, and also at the In the Pink Boutique, Chizu Japanese Restaurant, Hero's 19th Hole at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club, or on-line at www.boobapalooza.com. Cox Media Group is the event sponsor – providing displays and on-site visits throughout the day by personalities from X102.9, 95.1 WAPE and Rock105.
Bands scheduled to perform include August Drive, Blistur, Cupid's Alley, Go Ask Alice, Kickin’ Lassie, kLoB, Lucky Stiff, Out of Hand, and Ron Rodriguez and the Repeat Offenders – with special appearances by musicians Amy Hendrickson, Spade McQuade and Chris Rayola.
Other activities include a silent auction, along with chance drawings, custom made breast cancer awareness jewelry, limited edition “2010 Boobsapalooza” T-shirts and other prizes. Men can also compete in the Miz(ter) Boobsapalooza Contest, with the winner chosen by special guest judges.
